Hi, I’m Garrett, a local builder and maker in the Chicagoland area.

I live on the intersection of art, creativity and engineering. I studied physics in college and worked as a data engineer professionally for nearly a decade. In my free time I am an avid woodworker, musician, gardener and creative person who loves designing and making things that are unique.

I come from a long line of woodworkers, and I’ve spent years learning how things are made. I’ve designed and built a wide variety of things throughout my life—from healthcare data systems and AI software to walking canes, sculptural pieces, bridges, furniture, tall grass prairie gardens and homes.

I’m comfortable working across a wide range of disciplines, from carpentry and woodworking to electrical, landscaping and general home construction. But what I really enjoy is the problem-solving: taking an idea that doesn’t quite exist yet and figuring out how to make it work.

That’s what I want Garrett’s Custom Home & Furniture to be about.

I want to combine my engineering background, hands-on building experience, and creative side to make things that are beautiful, functional, and built to last.
